Legislative Update from Representative Greg Boe

Friday, March 11, 2022

Friends and Neighbors,

I have a request for you this week: will you join me in praying for the people in war-torn regions of the world? They need our help and support. It is difficult for us to imagine the current situation in Ukraine. I am reminded of how blessed I am to be living here in America.

The Unemployment Insurance Fund is still a hot topic in the legislature. Right now, House Democrats are holding up this bill. We have a deadline that requires this legislation must be passed by March 15. This bill has the Governor’s support, and it already passed with a bipartisan vote in the Senate. We need House Democrats to do the right thing and bring this bill to the Floor for a vote. As of this writing, that has yet to happen. Without this money, our businesses will suffer in the coming years.

I am proud to be a co-sponsor HF4055. This legislation would make it law for patients to have, at minimum, one support person present while receiving care. It’s called the “No Patient Left Alone” Act and it would prevent people from being alone during some of their most emotional and vulnerable times. I think back to when COVID was the concern and how many people had to face that fight, scared and alone. We can never let that happen again. Care should be quality and compassionate.

Finally, if you have the time, and a healthy appetite, stop by tonight’s Knights of Columbus Fish Fry. I will be there, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. serving up the tasty food! I hope to see you there.
