Legislative Update from Rep. Boe

Tuesday, February 5, 2019

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Thank you to everyone who came out to the recent town hall meeting I hosted with Senator Jensen. It was great to see those of you who attended, and I felt we had productive conversations on some important issues.

Now that February is underway, it has been almost one month since the legislative session began. Things are in full swing at the Capitol and I am honored to come to work and advocate for our community every day. The first month has been a learning process for me as I continue to learn new things about the ins and outs of the legislative process and committee structure.

One of the most important tasks facing the legislature this year is putting together a new two-year state budget, so this will be a big focus in House finance committees. Committee work has featured informational hearings and overviews of state agencies as we began working on budgets with the Walz Administration’s new department commissioners. Committees have also started hearing bill proposals, with a wide array of topics coming through so far.

March for Life

I recently joined thousands of pro-life Minnesotans at the annual March for Life as we gathered in support of pro-life legislation and to peacefully protest our nation’s abortion laws. I am inspired by the great number of supporters who took time out of their days and braved the cold weather to make their voices heard on this very important issue. As a strong supporter of the pro-life movement, I am proud to always defend life and stand up for the rights of the unborn.

Local Visitors

I’ve had a number of people from our communities stop by during visits to the Capitol the last few weeks. It is always great to see people from Carver County in St. Paul! I encourage you all to come see the legislature up close, as well as schedule a time to meet with me in my office while you are at the Capitol. Below are a few pictures with some of the people who have stopped by my office so far.

Meeting with Tom Devine, Regent Emeritus at the University of Minnesota.

Robert Olson of Chaska stopped by my office to discuss a number of issues.
