Dear Neighbors,

I hope this email finds you and yours staying healthy. The 2022 legislative session is underway and I’m looking forward to working with you to deliver the solutions Plymouth is counting on to keep our community and state moving forward.

I’d first like to thank residents who attended the town hall meeting on Zoom with Rep. Acomb and me last week. I appreciate the direct feedback, hearing what’s important to you, and having an opportunity to answer questions about legislative work and proposals in the Minnesota House. If you couldn’t make it, and you're interested, you can watch a recap of our event here.

Throughout the legislative interim, the House has been working with Minnesotans to lay the foundation for a successful session; and we have a lot to do to meet the needs of our working families, students, older Minnesotans, and main street small businesses. The projected $7.7 billion positive budget balance presents us with an opportunity to get our students on track from the pandemic’s disruption to learning, address our workforce shortages in long term care settings and hospitals, enhance public safety across the state, deliver hero pay to frontline workers, and ensure our businesses are held harmless by replenishing the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund. I’m also focused on getting a robust public works and construction bill across the finish line, with the inclusion of funds to finally fix County Road 47. These just scratch the surface; many proposals merit our consideration and I’m excited to vet them in the committee process. As always, I welcome your input and ideas on priorities important to you.

Bringing the Capitol to Plymouth. It was great to be with Troop 18357. The scouts were engaged and had thoughtful questions. We discussed how a bill goes from idea to law. Thank you for the invitation to be with you and help with your Inside Government Badge!

I appreciated the opportunity to meet with Katie Lindenfelser, a Plymouth resident and the Executive Director of Crescent Cove to learn more about the nonprofit's organization, legislative needs, and the services they provide for families with children who have life-threatening conditions.
