Minnesota's COVID-19 Vaccination Distribution Plan Announced

Thursday, December 10, 2020

Rep. Klevorn

Dear Neighbors,

I hope this finds you and yours well and staying healthy. The mild start to December is a gift; in Minnesota we’re fortunate to have an abundance of parks and trails. Plymouth’s Park Finder is a great resource when planning your next (socially distanced) outing.

Here’s an update from the Capitol:

Vaccine Distribution Plan in Minnesota

This week, Governor Walz announced Minnesota’s COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Plan. In partnership with the federal government and local communities across the state, the goal is to quickly, equitably, and safely deliver the vaccine to Minnesotans. Many vaccines are pending FDA approval; both Pfizer and Moderna have submitted plans and others are currently in clinical trials. Both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are 95 percent effective. In both cases, two doses will be required. Despite the quick development timeline, the vaccines have had to meet strict safety guidance and rigorous clinical trials.

Across the state, there will be 25 distribution hubs set up to directly receive vaccine deliveries through the national vaccine distribution chain. From there, the vaccine will be distributed further to smaller hospitals or clinics, or “spokes.” COVID-19 vaccines and additional supplies will be distributed at no cost to providers registered for COVID-19 vaccination, and vaccines will be provided to people at no cost. Special Session Monday

The House and Senate will gavel in for a final special session on Monday at 3:00 p.m. ahead of the regular session slated to begin January 5. The House has partnered with the governor to develop a COVID-19 assistance package, which was announced November 24; details are being discussed with the Senate and I’m cautiously optimistic we can deliver the overdue aid our Plymouth small businesses and working families need as a bridge to what is hopefully more anticipated/forthcoming federal support.

Climate Action Caucus

Yesterday, the Climate Action Caucus held a virtual meeting to discuss our Climate Action Plan going forward into 2021. It was great to have a bipartisan group of legislators on the call to learn more about how we can work together to combat the effects of climate change in Minnesota. You can review the Climate Action Plan here on our website.

Plymouth Creek Center Update

You may have noticed that construction on the Plymouth Creek Center is underway! It’s so exciting to see this project becoming a reality for our community. Check out the story and progress from CCX here.
