Legislative Update- August 13, 2019

Tuesday, August 13, 2019

Dear Neighbors,

It’s hard to believe we’re nearly half way through August. It’s been a busy and eventful summer in Plymouth and St. Paul.

Gun Violence Prevention Rally

Last Wednesday evening, I joined Protect Minnesota and Moms Demand Action for a rally on the steps of the Minnesota State Capitol, where Minnesotans gathered to stand up against hate, and call for changes to end mass shootings and other senseless gun violence. I spoke at the event and shared personal stories of how gun violence has long-lasting societal impacts on our children.
Minnesotans deserve to be safe, and to have the freedom and peace of mind to live their lives going to school, work, the grocery store, and any other public place. I won't give up on lifesaving measures we passed in the House, like criminal background checks and red flag laws. We need the Senate to step up to the plate. I strongly urge you to reach out to Senate Majority Leader Gazelka's office to demand action now.

Insulin Roundtable-You’re Invited

Yesterday, Minnesota House DFL lawmakers announced plans for a series of Community Conversations across the state to give Minnesotans an opportunity to share their concerns and ideas for improving access to insulin and addressing the skyrocketing cost of prescription drugs.
The first roundtable is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, August 14 at 10:30 a.m. in Room 120 of the State Capitol. The nonpartisan House of Representatives Public Information office will be live streaming the meetings here.

If you or someone in your family depends on insulin, and have experienced high costs, your input is needed. There will be additional opportunities to attend a future community conversation if you can’t make it this week and I’ll be sure to keep you posted.

Keep in Touch

Please continue to reach out with questions and input. I value your feedback and appreciate hearing from you!

Sincerely,
Ginny Klevorn
State Representative
