Dear Neighbors,

I hope you’re having a good week! I took advantage of the ‘warmer’ weather over the weekend and enjoyed meeting with community members, leaders and constituents.

Town Hall Meeting-THANK YOU

I was grateful for the opportunity to hear from so many in Plymouth on Saturday when Rep. Acomb and I held our first Senate District 44 Listening Session. There was an excellent turnout and the input from community members was productive and helpful to me, especially as we lay the groundwork for this session. Issues of particular interest included climate change, voting, transit, tobacco use. Majority Leader Winkler also joined us to share an overview of Minnesota’s economic position.

Plymouth Fire & Ice

It was a fun day in Plymouth at our community’s annual Fire & Ice winter festival at Parkers Lake! So great to be outdoors enjoying winter together. Thank you to everyone who made this event such a success!

IAM Connect India & Dr. Dash Foundation

Saturday evening, I was pleased to participate in ‘Connect India’, a platform for Indian member organizations around Minnesota to come together and share their mission, goals and explore areas where we all in the community can cooperate and collaborate.

Tax Filing Update

Some community members have asked about the tax filing process for last year’s returns. There is some confusion because of the federal tax changes that passed in late 2017. While the Legislature didn’t address the issue of conformity last year, the Minnesota Department of Revenue has updated its forms to reflect current Minnesota law, so you should feel comfortable filing your taxes at any point. Certainly down the road, there will be a discussion at the Legislature about state conformity to the federal changes. As this takes place, I’ll be working to ensure all Minnesotans are treated fairly under any changes.

Stay Safe; Stay Warm

As we prepare for another cold snap, please be extra cautious with the snow and ice. Unfortunately, many Minnesotans had frozen pipes that burst and caused significant damage to their homes. If you or someone you know has experienced this, the Minnesota Department of Commerce has tips to help with the insurance claims process.

Please keep in touch with your viewpoints, feedback and any questions. You can reach me at 651-296-5511 or via email at rep.ginny.klevorn@house.mn. I appreciate your input!
Sincerely,

Ginny Klevorn
