Legislative Update - New Economic Forecast

Wednesday, December 2, 2020

Dear neighbors,

Minnesota’s new economic forecast, which was released yesterday, indicates that our state is well-positioned to provide immediate relief to workers, small businesses, and people impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. As we await more aid from the federal government, I’ll continue working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to curb the spread of the virus and support those who are struggling to make ends meet.

House DFLers recently announced an economic relief package to keep small businesses afloat, support workers struggling to get by, and help Minnesota families keep food on their tables. As I mentioned in my last e-update, we are focused on assisting those hit hardest by the pandemic.

You can view the new economic projections here. More information about our economic relief package is available here.

Public Meeting about Water Gremlin’s Emissions Permit

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is seeking input on a minor amendment to Water Gremlin’s air emissions permit. The agency is holding an online public meeting to discuss the proposal on Thursday, December 10 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. If you’d like to participate, you can find more information and register here.

The permit amendment is under consideration because Water Gremlin wants to make a change to their coating process that would impact the facility’s potential emissions. If you’d like to submit a public comment on this proposal, you can email sarah.sevcik@state.mn.us or send a comment by mail to Sarah Sevcik, MPCA, 520 Lafayette Rd. N., St. Paul, MN 55155. You must include your interest, the action you want the MPCA to take, and the reasons for your position. Public comments are due by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 17.
