As we mark the halfway point of the 2022 legislative session, I’d like to invite you to my Zoom town hall with your Coon Rapids legislators will be Tuesday, April 19th, starting at 7:00 PM. To attend, please register here. We’ll send out the Zoom link shortly before the event.
The House was busy last week, as committees finished advancing omnibus bills – packages of legislation that outline plans for a specific area of the budget. On Wednesday the 6th, the Commerce Committee I chair passed a bill that makes significant investments in the safety of Minnesotans. It will invest $6.82 million in initiatives such as:
Prevention of large social media platforms from using algorithms to send potentially harmful content to children
Investments in state-operated car-theft prevention measures
Prevention of catalytic converter theft
A study from the Commerce Department on disparities in the nine health insurance rating areas around the state;
Establishing a student loan advocate, whose duties include creating a student loan education course
Greater resources for the Commerce Fraud Bureau, the state’s leading law enforcement agency for insurance fraud and other white-collar crimes
As Chair of the Commerce Committee, I’m proud to say we met our responsibility to help small businesses, protect consumers, and create a fairer, safer Minnesota. Our bill is balanced, with measures from both parties to help the people of our state.
Please continue to reach out anytime if you need assistance or have questions at email@example.com or 651-296-5513.
It’s an honor to represent our Coon Rapids and Champlin families in St. Paul.
