St. Paul, MN – Today, The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) announced a new temporary COVID-19 testing site at the Chanhassen Recreation Center. The state is recommending testing in Carver County in response to a rapidly growing outbreak of the more easily transmitted B117 variant COVID-19. Saliva testing at this site will occur Thursday, March 11 through Saturday, March 13, and Thursday, March 18 through Saturday, March 20. Appointments are encouraged but not required. Walk-ins are also available.
State Representative Kelly Morrison (DFL-Deephaven), a practicing physician who represents portions of Carver County, is encouraging area residents to take advantage of the new testing location.
“The outbreak our community has been exposed to is concerning,” said Rep. Morrison. “Testing remains a critical component in our state’s response to these new and more contagious variants, and I’m grateful for MDH’s swift action to get the Chanhassen testing site up and running. I encourage everyone to stay safe by getting tested, so we can contain the spread to the best of our ability. Let’s stay vigilant by wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining a physical distance, and avoiding large groups when we can. We can’t let our guard down now.”
The Chanhassen site is a coordinated effort between the State of Minnesota, the Minnesota National Guard, Carver County, the city of Chanhassen, Chanhassen Recreation Center, and Vault Health.
