Happy New Year! I hope you were able to enjoy a peaceful holiday season.
Today at noon, Hennepin County opened the small business grant application process for businesses and nonprofits financially impacted by the pandemic. The Minnesota Small Business Relief program, which was established as a result of the collaboration and work of the legislature and governor, contains $24.6 million in funding. The online application form is now live and can be accessed here. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need any help with the application or have questions about eligibility.
Session 2021 Tool-Kit
As we close out 2020, we reflect on a difficult year and look to the future with hope. I’m looking forward to the beginning of a new legislative session, which gets underway tomorrow.
I’ve put together a session “tool-kit” for you to ensure you’re able to keep up with and participate in the legislative process remotely. As we continue to operate under recommended public health guidelines, it’s important to me that we ensure openness and transparency for the public. I’m pleased to share that the House is expanding the number of simultaneous committees it can webcast live from a maximum of two to five. You can use the link above to find the committee hearing you are interested in watching.
The Minnesota House of Representatives Public Information Services offers nonpartisan recaps of high-profile bills, committee hearings, and floor sessions with their Session Daily publication. You can subscribe to receive these here. Committee Assignments
Every two years, the committee structure and membership in the House can change after the election. I’m pleased to share I’ll be serving on the following committees this biennium: Early Childhood Finance & Policy; Environment and Natural Resources Finance & Policy; Health Finance & Policy; and the newly established Preventative Health Policy Division. I’ll also be serving as in a new leadership role as House Assistant Majority Leader.
All of these assignments reflect an important priority of mine as your state legislator; ensuring we all have an opportunity to prosper #ForAHealthyThrivingMinnesota.
