Rep. Lippert statement on timeline to end COVID-19 restrictions

Thursday, May 6, 2021

St. Paul, MN - Today, Governor Tim Walz announced a timeline to end nearly all state COVID-19 restrictions by May 28, and end the statewide masking requirement once 70 percent of Minnesotans age 16 years and older get their vaccine, or by July 1. The announcement comes as more than 2.6 million Minnesotans have gotten their shot and the state is on track to vaccinate 70 percent of Minnesotans by the end of June.

State Representative Todd Lippert (DFL - Northfield) released the following statement:

“A safe and healthy summer doing the things we love with the people we care about is within our grasp, but it remains crucial that we continue to follow the public health guidelines that have made Minnesota a leader in combating this pandemic. Getting back to normal is incredibly important for our local businesses, working families, and everyone in our community who continues to struggle in what are hopefully the waning months of COVID-19.

“Right now, the best thing you can do to help expedite the process of Minnesota bouncing back from this pandemic is to get vaccinated and encourage loved ones to do the same.”
