Mekeland performs third House oath of office

Tuesday, January 3, 2023

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Shane Mekeland, R-Clear Lake, performed his third oath of office in the Minnesota House of Representatives Tuesday as the 93rd Legislature was installed at the Capitol in St. Paul.

Mekeland was re-elected to the House in November. He serves the newly configured District 27A seat, which has been condensed into western Sherburne County – including the cities of Becker, Big Lake and surrounding areas.

“The House’s swearing-in ceremony always is a humbling experience, and it comes with a deep sense of gratitude for the people of our district who entrusted me as their voice in the House,” Mekeland said. “The district boundaries may have changed, but my priorities remain the same. Namely, I will continue standing up for our liberties, advocating for taxpayers and supporting solutions to ensure Minnesotans have affordable, reliable energy.

“I anticipate important decisions to be made on all three of those subjects this session, especially with a state budget surplus of $17.6 billion and rising. We need to get as many of those dollars as possible back in the hands of the people who were subjected to over-collection by the government.”

Mekeland will serve a pair of House committees, one related to energy and another on labor and industry. He can be reached at his legislative office by calling (651) 296-2451 or by emailing rep.shane.mekeland@house.mn.gov. He also provides periodic email updates and citizens can sign up to receive them on his personal page at the official House website: www.house.mn.
