Rep. Dan Wolgamott statement on State Budget Forecast, Investing in St. Cloud

Wednesday, December 6, 2023

St. Paul, MN - Today, Minnesota Management and Budget released new projections showing a stable budget and economic outlook. State Representative Dan Wolgamott (DFL - St. Cloud), released the following statement on today’s budget forecast:

“Today’s budget forecast is proof that the policies we enacted to grow the middle class have resulted in real economic gains for Minnesotans. It’s one of the early indicators of what we’ll be able to work with during next year’s session, where my main focus will be fighting for investments in St. Cloud’s public works projects.

“Now is the time to invest in downtown St. Cloud, the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center, the CentraCare Medical School, and other local projects that will benefit our community for generations to come.”

Earlier this week, Rep. Wolgamott welcomed Governor Walz to St. Cloud for a tour of a wastewater treatment plant, hosted MMB Commissioner Campbell for a visit to the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center the week before, and brought his fellow Capital Investment Committee members to site visits throughout his district this fall.

During the 2023 legislative session, Rep. Wolgamott successfully championed capital investment legislation that delivered $7 million for renovations to the Great River Children’s Museum, $3.9 million to the City of St. Cloud for updates to the regional airport, and $5 million to cover design for the CentraCare Health System Campus.
