Rep. Wolgamott’s statement on Minnesota’s Budget Forecast

Tuesday, December 6, 2022

St. Paul, MN - Today, Minnesota Management and Budget announced the state’s latest budget forecast, projecting a $17.6 billion surplus. State Representative Dan Wolgamott (DFL - St. Cloud) released the following statement:

“Our projected surplus puts Minnesota in a strong position to take a balanced approach that provides tax cuts for seniors and working families, while also making new investments that will benefit our state for years to come.

“It’s time to eliminate the tax on Social Security, expand the working family tax credit, fully fund the special education cross-subsidy, get more police officers on our streets, and ensure that workers have paid time to care for themselves, their loved ones, and a new baby.”

The House Ways and Means Committee will hold a public hearing about the new economic forecast; an announcement with the date and time is forthcoming. The 2023 legislative session convenes on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
