Rep. Wolgamott votes for House Jobs and Local Projects Plan

Saturday, May 16, 2020

St. Paul, MN – Today, the Minnesota House of Representatives considered the House Jobs and Local Projects Plan, which would invest over $2.5 billion in important infrastructure improvements and job-creating local projects across the state. As it did not receive the constitutionally required three-fifths supermajority vote, due to a lack of support from House Republicans, the bill did not pass. State Representative Dan Wolgamott (DFL - St. Cloud) who helped craft the bill as a member of the House Capital Investment Division, voted for the legislation.

“There are important projects in St. Cloud and across the state that are worthy of capital investment right now,” said Rep. Wolgamott. “While it’s disappointing to see Republicans choose partisanship over projects, my efforts to bring these projects to St. Cloud will continue. We need to create good-paying jobs today, and invest in projects that will benefit our community for years to come .”

Projects important to St. Cloud and the surrounding region that are in the House Jobs and Local Projects Plan include the extension of the Northstar Commuter Rail to St. Cloud, renovations for the St. Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex, safety and security upgrades to the St. Cloud Correctional Facility, asset preservation at St. Cloud State University and St. Cloud Technical Community College, and more.

A full list of the projects proposed in the legislation can be accessed here. Video of the House Floor session will be available on House Public Information Services’ YouTube Channel.
