Legislative Update - September 26, 2019

Thursday, September 26, 2019

Rep. Wolgamott

Dear Granite City Neighbors,

Fall is proving to be a busy time of year with even more important events coming up in our community! I’ll be holding another event this Sunday to address the issues being faced by Minnesota’s seniors, though it is open to all ages.

Elder Care Forum

I’m proud to have supported the new elder care laws that passed this legislative session, but more remains to be done to better the lives of Minnesota’s seniors, regardless of where they live. For this event, I’m extremely grateful to be joined by Rep. Jen Schultz, who will be able to lend her expertise as the chair our House Long-Term Care Division.

What: Elder Care & Seniors Issues Forum

Who: Myself, members of the public, and Rep. Jen Schultz – chair of the House Long-Term Care Division

When: Sunday, September 29, from 12:30-1:30pm

Where: Carefree Living Center, 1225 Division St. E, St. Cloud, MN 56304

Take Back the Night

This evening, I’m honored to be speaking at Central Minnesota’s Take Back the Night event, which’ll be from 6-8pm at Barden Park. Take Back the Night is a march and rally against sexual and domestic violence. Several amazing organizations will be celebrating their courageous work this evening, and I couldn’t be more proud to support them in all they do.

Be Heard on Cannabis

We’re a few weeks away, but I wanted to make sure you saved the date for St. Cloud’s “Be Heard on Cannabis” event that’ll be coming up on October 12th. It’s time for Minnesota to start having a serious conversation on what responsibly legalizing recreational cannabis for adults would look like in our state, and I want our community to be part of that conversation.

For this event, we’ll be joined by Majority Leader Ryan Winkler, and I hope everyone who is interested in this issue is able to join us. Regardless of whether or not you’ll be able to attend, please consider taking Speaker Melissa Hortman’s survey on the issue here.

Stay In Touch! Besides these events, we have even more Town Halls and community conversations coming to St. Cloud, which you can read more about in my previous legislative update. If you’re unable to make any of these events, always feel free to reach out to me to discuss these issues, and anything else that is important to you. You can reach me at (651) 296-6612, or email me at rep.dan.wolgamott@house.mn.

Go Vikes!
