Rep. Wolgamott

Dear Granite City Neighbors,

We’ve got a lot of exciting events coming up this fall, both in our community and around the state, the first of which is my Community Conversation on the rising costs of insulin and other prescription drugs.

Community Conversation Insulin and Rx Drugs

Minnesotans all over the state are struggling to afford their life-saving medication, and I want to hear your stories and help answer your questions. As I work to find solutions in St. Paul, I want to make sure we’re helping real people with real problems, so I invite you to join me tomorrow to have your voice heard.

What: Community Conversation on Insulin and Prescription Drugs

Who: Myself, members of the public, and Rep. Tina Liebling – Chair of the House Health and Human Service Finance Division

When: Saturday, September 21, from 10am to 12pm

Where: Great River Regional Library, 1300 W St. Germain St, St. Cloud, MN 56301

Mini-Session
This fall, the Minnesota House of Representatives will be on the road! From October 2-4, we’ll be holding a historical mini-session in Winona and the surrounding communities. Southeastern Minnesota will host legislators as a number of committee hearings, roundtable discussions, and informative tours will take place in Winona, Austin, and Rochester.

Mini Session

Though the Minnesota House doesn’t officially reconvene until February 2020, the mini-session offers a chance for my colleagues and I to see our work through a different lens outside of St. Paul and our own communities. The last mini-session was in 1997 in Willmar, and we’re hoping our work this year restarts the tradition of holding offsite hearings every other year. Events and logistics are still being finalized, but I look forward to sharing my experiences with you in October.

St. Cloud Pride
It’s the 10th Annual St. Cloud Pride Weekend, and I couldn’t be more proud to fight for equality and inclusion in everything I do in the Minnesota House. All Minnesotans deserve to be safe and live with dignity, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

We’ve come a long way, but there’s still so much to work towards, including banning “conversion therapy” in Minnesota. This year, I co-authored a bill that would ban the harmful practice for minors and vulnerable adults, but our efforts were blocked by leadership in the Minnesota Senate. So as we come together to celebrate this weekend, I’ll hope you’ll join me in renewing our efforts on banning this outdated and cruel practice once and for all. You can find more information on St. Cloud’s Pride Weekend festivities here. I hope to see you there!

Stay In Touch!
Besides these events, we have even more Town Halls and community conversations coming to St. Cloud, which you can read more about in my previous legislative update. If you’re unable to make any of these events, always feel free to reach out to me to discuss these issues, and anything that is important to you. You can reach me at (651) 296-6612, or email me at rep.dan.wolgamott@house.mn.

Go Vikes!
