Minnesota House Unanimously Approves New Advertising Requirements for Real Estate Licensees

St. Paul, MN – Today the Minnesota House passed legislation (HF 622) updating the advertising requirements for real estate licensees. This was the first bill to pass off the House floor for the author, Rep. Dan Wolgamott (DFL – St. Cloud). The bipartisan legislation passed on a vote of 127-0.

“As a real estate agent myself, I believe consumers deserve accountable and transparent advertising from real estate agents,” said Rep. Wolgamott. “This legislation would clarify advertising requirements to ensure people buying and selling homes in Minnesota know exactly who they’re working with.”

In partnership with the Department of Commerce and Minnesota Realtors, the bill would clarify statute on real estate advertising by requiring the real estate brokerage name to be clearly and conspicuously displayed. The legislation in the Senate (SF 768) is currently awaiting a scheduled floor vote.
