Demuth performs second House oath

Tuesday, January 5, 2021

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Lisa Demuth, R-Cold Spring, performed her second oath of office in the Minnesota House of Representatives Tuesday as the 92nd Legislature was installed at the Capitol.

Demuth was re-elected to the House in November. She represents District 13A, which includes St. Joseph and Avon to the north, runs west to Paynesville and stretches south of Kimball.

“I am excited to be back representing the people of District 13A, particularly as we navigate the challenges of safely re-opening our businesses and getting our kids back in school,” Demuth said. “I’m happy to be getting back to work in a full session where we can give important issues such as these the attention they deserve.”

Demuth has been selected to serve on three House committees: Early Childhood Finance and Policy, Education Finance, and Health Finance & Policy.

“The committees related to early childhood and education suit me well and are going to be major points of emphasis this session,” Demuth said. “The state’s woeful achievement gap and the learning loss that has been compounded by a lack of classroom time are significant issues that need to be addressed and I look forward to working on these committees.”

Demuth said she encourages constituents to provide her with input throughout the year, especially during the session. She can be reached at her legislative office by calling (651) 296-4373 or by emailing rep.lisa.demuth@house.mn. Demuth also provides periodic email updates and citizens can sign up to receive them at her official state website: www.house.mn/13A.

As a COVID-19 precaution, Tuesday’s swearing-in ceremony was conducted with many House members participating remotely from their legislative offices instead of in the chamber as is tradition.
