Here are a few shout-outs to area athletes and a brief Thanksgiving message this holiday week.
Fall sports are winding down and I want to commend area athletes for their efforts this season, including congratulations to:
- The Paynesville Bulldogs football team for winning its section championship and advancing to the state Class AA semifinals. Nice job, young men!
- ROCORI Spartans senior Olivia Motter for recently winning the Class A state diving title – putting the finishing touches on a perfect season where she finished first in every meet. What an impressive accomplishment!
- The ROCORI Spartans football team for advancing to the state Class AAAA championship game 4 p.m. Friday at U.S. Bank Stadium. The Spartans play the SMB Wolfpack (St. Paul Academy, Minnehaha Academy, Blake co-op). Good luck, ROCORI!
As for Thanksgiving, this week is a wonderful time to pause and give thanks for the blessings we all enjoy. Sometimes the hectic day-to-day pace we live distracts us from the fact that, despite the personal challenges we all face, we are truly blessed in the lives we live. This Thanksgiving holiday is a great time to join with friends and family to count those many blessings and give thanks to our Lord, from which all good things come.
