FEDERAL CARES ACT FUNDS RELEASED TO LOCAL GOVERNMENTS ACROSS MINNESOTA

Thursday, June 25, 2020

[LAKE CRYSTAL, MN] – Governor Walz announced today that he would distribute the $841 million in federal CARES Act funds to local entities. 85 of the 87 counties in Minnesota had not yet received their funds, with Hennepin and Ramsey County as exceptions.

“This money was held hostage by politics during the special session. I am glad that the governor is doing the right thing, and releasing the funds to our local communities who have been severely damaged by the recent economic shutdown; however, this is a measure that should have been handled by the legislature,” said Representative Jeremy Munson (23B- Lake Crystal).

These funds will be allocated to localities across the entire State of Minnesota. The population of each county, city, and town is a significant factor in determining how much money each locality will receive. Attached to this press release are several spreadsheets indicating how much money each locality will receive when the funds are released.
