NHRC CONGRATULATES ROSEAU COUNTY ON BECOMING SECOND AMENDMENT SANCTUARY COUNTY

Tuesday, February 11, 2020

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Today, Roseau County approved a motion to establish itself as a Second Amendment sanctuary county. The measure, approved by the county commissioners, will allow the county to refuse to send officers to enforce red flag laws.

“Grassroots efforts to ensure that gun rights in Minnesota are protected remain essential,” said Rep. Jeremy Munson (Republican – Lake Crystal). “We do not want to see a top-down mandate from the state, rather we want to see individuals having conversations with their county commissioners, police chiefs, and County Sheriffs. We want counties to know that people do not want to see enforced gun control measures that violate the Second Amendment.”

“My hat is off to the county commissioners and Sheriff of Roseau County for displaying the courage necessary to ‘stand in the gap’ to protect the second amendment in their country,” said Representative Steve Drazkowski (Republican – Mazeppa). “I hope other counties will soon follow their lead.”

Rep. Munson posted a Second Amendment resolution to his website in December and created petitions for people to sign. Local activists in Roseau brought this to their county to get the process started.

Anyone interested in seeing their county become a Second Amendment sanctuary county should visit our website at https://www.newhousegop.com/2_a_counties. Individuals from dozens of communities have signed the petition to join the movement in support of Second Amendment sanctuary counties.

The NHRC is led by Rep. Steve Drazkowski (Republican-Mazeppa). It includes Rep. Cal Bahr (Republican-East Bethel), Rep. Tim Miller (Republican-Prinsburg), and Rep. Jeremy Munson (Republican-Lake Crystal).
