Rep. Sandstede statement about state budget forecast

Wednesday, March 1, 2017

ST. PAUL – Yesterday, officials from the Minnesota Management and Budget department announced the February Economic Forecast which projected a $1.65 billion state budget surplus for the coming biennium. This number is up from the $1.4 billion projected in November.

State Rep. Julie Sandstede (DFL – Hibbing) released the following statement:

“This forecast is certainly good news and it puts us in a position to expand opportunities for many Minnesotans to improve their lives. Our state economy is still growing, but we must ensure this success reaches everyone.

“With this budget surplus, we can provide more resources to Minnesota’s students, provide greater access to health care, improve our transportation system, and make overdue investments in areas like broadband so we can build our economy in every corner of the state. Working together to find common ground, we can keep Minnesota headed in the right direction.”
