ST. PAUL —State Representative John Poston, R-Lake Shore, issued the following statement regarding news that the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will not require the Nolte Family Irrigation Project in Wadena County to prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS).
“Yesterday’s decision from the DNR should end what has been an unfair and painful process for the Nolte family,” said Rep. Poston. “The Noltes have proven time and again that they are good conservationists of land and water and I am pleased to see this egregious case of government overreach has finally come to an end so that the Nolte family can move on with their lives.”
In yesterday’s news release, the DNR announced that they have determined that all potential environmental effects from the proposed project are minimal in nature or can be managed through ongoing regulatory authority.
