Dear Neighbor,

Conference Committees are wrapping up their work and a compromise between the House and Senate budget proposals has been reached. However, we are still waiting for the Governor to become more involved in the final negotiation process. We need his input and approval in order to finalize the budget and finish the work of the people on time.

Constituent Visits:

This week, I was visited by Pillager High School student: Jazmin Blowers. She brought forth an idea for legislation, which has now been chief authored by me (House File 1632). This bill would require children under the age of 16 to wear a helmet while riding a horse on state lands. She expressed concerns regarding the possible long-term head trauma children could sustain if they were to fall off a horse without wearing the proper headgear.

6th Graders from Sebeka Public Schools toured the Capitol on Thursday; it was great to be able to take a break from session to chat with some local students!

I also had the honor of attending the National Day of Prayer on Thursday.
