RELEASE: Layman urges participation in Line 3 comment period

Tuesday, March 19, 2019

ST. PAUL, MN – Rep. Sandy Layman (R-Cohasset) issued the following statement Tuesday in response to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources beginning a 60-day comment period related to permits and licenses for the proposed Enbridge Line 3 replacement project in northern Minnesota:

Following extensive environmental review over the last four years, the experts at the state’s Public Utilities Commission unanimously approved the construction of the replacement pipeline,” said Layman. “We’re now seeing the governor further obstruct this project by restarting legal challenges against it, which is creating more unnecessary holdups and barriers. Northern Minnesotans have long awaited the property tax relief, good-paying jobs, and economic surge that will accompany this project. I’d like to encourage folks in our area to weigh in and make their support for Line 3 known during this public comment period.

According to the DNR’s website, comments will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. May 17. Comments may be submitted online at mndnr.gov/line3. Submissions are limited to 9,999 characters per application and up to four attachments, each less than 20 megabytes. Comments may also be mailed to the DNR at 500 Lafayette Road, St. Paul MN 55155-4025, Attention Line 3 Replacement Applications.
