Health Insurance Update and Clarification:

Since the passage of Senate File 1 last week, there have been some developments worth sharing:

  • There is a one week enrollment extension from February 1st – February 8th
  • Medica, which is only available through MNsure, is below its enrollment cap and will accept new enrollees from January 31st -February 8th
  • If you qualify for the 25% premium reduction, no action is required on your end, you will receive it automatically. (In order to qualify, you must have bought the plan on the individual market and not received a federal health insurance tax credit).

Tax Reciprocity:

This week I co-authored a bill (House File 183) that allows for a refundable income tax credit for Minnesotans who work in Wisconsin during years an income tax reciprocity agreement is not reached. Those who live in our community and work in Wisconsin should not be financially burdened for doing so.
