Legislative Update from Representative Matt Grossell

Monday, March 14, 2022

Friends and Neighbors,

We packed in a lot of legislation last week. I filed legislation to fully prosecute criminals who create child pornography. This is an ugly topic, but these criminals must be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

The Unemployment Insurance Fund has still not been funded. House Democrats are holding this bill up. This is a bill that the Governor, the Senate and House Republicans support, and we must have it passed by March 15. As of this writing, no movement has been made to bring it to the House floor for a vote. This is a massive slap in the face to our Minnesota business owners who have already gone through so much during the Walz shutdown. The Mankato Press wrote an editorial agreeing with my stance. You can read that editorial here: Our View: Unemployment: House DFL wrong on business tax | Editorials | mankatofreepress.com.

We also voted on a Hometown Heroes Act, providing assistance for our firefighters who are suffering from a critical illness. I have a deep respect for our firefighters. They deserve so much support. I voted in favor of this bill.

We have much more to do and I am always thankful to serve you.

God Bless.
