RELEASE: Rep. Grossell Statement on Minneapolis Issuing ID Cards to Illegal Immigrants

Monday, December 10, 2018

CLEARBROOK – State Representative Matt Grossell, R-Clearbrook, issued the following statement after the Minneapolis City Council voted to issue identification cards to residences regardless of immigration status:

“We cannot have cities circumventing the state and ignoring the rule of law by issuing official identification cards to residents,” said Rep. Matt Grossell (R-Clearbrook), a retired law enforcement officer. “Immigration policy is not something we should be deciding at the city level. I plan to introduce legislation during the upcoming session that will stop municipal and local units of government from issuing identification cards to illegal immigrants.”
