Dear Neighbors, The historic Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) passed by Congress and signed by President Biden delivers wide-ranging investments for Minnesota including billions for our roads and bridges, rails, clean water and expanded broadband. The House Capital Investment Committee and the House Transportation Finance and Policy Committee held a joint informational hearing last week on Minnesota’s transportation provisions within the new law. The Minnesota Department of Transportation, the Metropolitan Council, and the National Conference of State Legislators provided testimony. Minnesota is the recipient of an estimated $4.5 billion for highways, $818 million for public transportation, $302 million for bridges, and $68 million for electric vehicle charging stations. Other important investments from the legislation unrelated to transportation includes $100 million for broadband internet and $680 million for clean water infrastructure. You can watch the hearing here.
