Legislative Update

Wednesday, June 8, 2022

Dear Neighbors,

I hope you are enjoying this amazing weather we’ve had over the past couple of weeks! At the Legislature, DFL leadership and committee chairs are continuing to meet and negotiate various budget agreements with the Senate Republicans with the hope of a short special session so we can finish our work. While a special session isn’t guaranteed I will continue to do what I can to make it a reality so we can fully invest in Minnesota.

Roseville Fire Department Explorer Program

The Explorer Program is up and running. If you have a 6th-12th grader who’d like to learn more about firefighting, you can call 651-792-7309 or visit this site to learn more and sign up!

Frontline Worker Pay

The application process for the frontline worker bonus is now open. The Frontline Worker Pay application will be open June 8 through July 22, 2022. Eligible workers will have 45 days to apply for Frontline Worker Pay. Remember, you don't have to be first in line when the application opens. The application will be open for 45 days and the funds are not first come, first served. Visit frontline pay.mn.gov to see if you are eligible and to apply today!

Free Park Day

This Saturday is Free Park Day in Minnesota! On four days in 2022, all 75 Minnesota state parks and state recreation areas will offer free admission to everyone. Here are the dates for the rest of the year:

  • Saturday, June 11
  • Friday, November 25

Minnesota state parks are open year-round, and there's a state park within 30 miles of most Minnesotans. With a free day in each season, it's a great opportunity to get out there and explore someplace new - or visit an old favorite at a new time of year! Whether you stay for the whole weekend or just spend a few hours outside, you'll make memories that will last a lifetime.

COVID Tests Available
The federal government began a third round of a free mail order program that enables people to order more rapid at-home tests at no cost by visiting this website: CovidTests.gov. Minnesotans can still order free at-home rapid COVID-19 tests through the state’s free mail order program, two test kits per home, at this website: Order your free at-home rapid tests. The website includes information on at-home rapid testing, a video demonstration and FAQ on how to use the iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test, and a link to place orders.
