Legislative Update; Mourning Congressman Hagedorn

Sunday, February 20, 2022

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE FROM

REP. CAL BAHR - DISTRICT 31B

Sunday, February 20th, 2022 –

As we finish the 3rd week of the 22nd Legislative session, big changes have come to the House’s policy on masking. This week the speaker of the House announced that the mask requirement to be on the House floor was dropped. Additionally, the Speaker announced that after 2 years the State Office Building (SOB) will once again be open to the public, albeit with some restrictions.

Starting March 21st on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday the SOB will be open from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. My staff has been working at the state office building throughout the pandemic, but most of our non-partisan and research staff have been working almost entirely off-site. For the first time in 2 years not only will all the complex employees be at their desks but you can stop by my office to chat with either myself or my staff.

Congressman Hagedorn Passes Away

Last night Congressman Jim Hagedorn passed away peacefully in his sleep after a long battle with Kidney Cancer. Jim lived a life of public service starting as a legislative staffer and eventually running for office himself.

He built on the legacy of his late father and former Congressman, Tom Hagedorn, who was just as passionate a conservative fighter, and a beloved Minnesotan as Jim. With his passing, we have lost a true American patriot and a champion of conservative values in southern Minnesota.

Jim was first elected to the House in 2018 and served on the Agriculture and Small Business Committees. His work has helped create the vibrant agricultural economy we see in southern Minnesota.

My deepest condolences and prayers to Jennifer, and to all of his family in this difficult time.

Choose Freedom,

Cal Bahr

State Representative, 31B
