Just Like That, No State Mask Mandate

Per new guidelines from the CDC, Governor Walz has cancelled the Statewide Mask Mandate for both indoor and outdoor spaces effective today - officially, for those who are fully vaccinated.

However, this only applies to the statewide mandate. Local communities and private businesses still have the ability to declare their own rules and restrictions. Both the cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis are keeping their mandates for indoor spaces in place for now. Masks will also still be required in the public schools through the end of the school year per the "Safe Schools Plan" in place from the Department of Education. Once the school year has ended, it will be up to individual districts to decide how long they wish to maintain the mask requirements, if at all.

There are also other exceptions to the CDC guidelines for masks that requires them in health care settings, on public transportation, homeless shelters and also in prisons.

Let's Talk About the Dollar

I also got a chance to chat with Bella, on her podcast "The Bella Dangelo Show," last week about voter integrity and the rise of inflation. You should take a few minutes to listen in!

Adjournment is "On Deck"

Finally, the regular legislative session is done on Monday; however, there is still no agreement reached on budget negotiations. It can be pretty complicated so I made a video to try to explain the last week of session, what happens if the legislature does not come to an agreement, and why single subject bills are so important.

Coming up Next Week

  • Monday is the last day of regular session and we will adjourn until next year - except that we will have to come back for Special Sessions, again.
  • I am currently assembling Congratulatory letters for all the graduating seniors in my district - we get those names from the schools. However, if you have a student who is home-schooled or educated outside the district who is completing their high school education this year, I would love to include them in my efforts. Please email me with the name and address you would like to have it sent to and I will get those out in the next couple weeks!
