Just Like That, No State Mask Mandate
Per new guidelines from the CDC, Governor Walz has cancelled the Statewide Mask Mandate for both indoor and outdoor spaces effective today - officially, for those who are fully vaccinated.
However, this only applies to the statewide mandate. Local communities and private businesses still have the ability to declare their own rules and restrictions. Both the cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis are keeping their mandates for indoor spaces in place for now. Masks will also still be required in the public schools through the end of the school year per the "Safe Schools Plan" in place from the Department of Education. Once the school year has ended, it will be up to individual districts to decide how long they wish to maintain the mask requirements, if at all.
There are also other exceptions to the CDC guidelines for masks that requires them in health care settings, on public transportation, homeless shelters and also in prisons.
