Legislative Update: February 21, 2018

Wednesday, February 21, 2018

Greetings Northlanders,

The 2018 legislative session started yesterday. This is a short session this year, running from late February to the end of May, so it will be fast-paced and hopefully productive.

There are a couple issues to get ironed out in the opening days of session, including approving state employee contracts and pensions. How well that process goes could be a good indicator for how the session will play out.

After bringing complaints from my constituents regarding service and billing issues with Frontier to the PUC, the Commerce Department is reviewing the case. If you’ve experienced these issues, you can submit a comment here. You can also send your comments via email to consumer.puc@state.mn.us. Comments must be submitted by May 25. I’ll keep you in the loop with any new information I receive. Thank you to all who spoke up.

Last weekend, the International Voyageurs Snowmobile Club sponsored a radar run to benefit the International Falls Cancer Walk. There was a great turnout for a worthy cause.
