Partisan Bonding Bill Fails in Minnesota House

Thursday, May 19, 2016

ST. PAUL, MN – Today the Minnesota House, not having reached a supermajority vote as required by the state constitution, failed to pass its bonding bill. Three days remain to pass bills in the legislative session.

Representative Rob Ecklund (DFL – International Falls) released the following statement:

“I am just really disappointed this bonding bill was crafted behind closed doors and shut out the public. Bonding bills are intended to creates jobs and build infrastructure in every corner of Minnesota to earn bipartisan support. This bill essentially ignores every project north of Duluth. I wish we would have crafted a bill that invests in Minnesota and strengthens communities in Greater Minnesota.”

The bonding bill, which requires 81 votes to pass, failed 69-64.
