Rep. Cheryl Youakim Earns Legislator of Distinction – Tax Policy Award

St. Paul, MN- Rep. Cheryl Youakim (DFL-Hopkins) has earned and received the Legislator of Distinction – Tax Policy Award from the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC) for 2022. CGMC’s mission is to develop viable, progressive communities for businesses and families through strong economic growth and good local government. The organization supports fair property taxes, good land use planning, sensible environmental regulation, a balanced transportation system, and effective economic development tools to meet that goal.

“I am honored to have earned this distinguished award and I thank the Coalition for their advocacy in fair local taxation policies across the state,” said Rep. Youakim. “As the House Property Tax Chair, I worked with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to craft meaningful legislation that would have increased local government aid and supported thousands of homeowners, renters, seniors, and Minnesotans with disabilities.

“Now more than ever, when Minnesotans could use more money in their pockets, we must meet this moment to reduce costs. I’ll continue to champion sustainable solutions that ensures every community has strong public services they can count on.”

The CGMC is a nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy organization representing more than 100 cities outside of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The Coalition also educates legislators about issues important to Greater Minnesota.
