ST. PAUL – On October 1, Governor Tim Walz authorized the use of Minnesota’s Disaster Assistance Contingency Account to help pay for damage caused by severe winds, rainfall, and flooding in mid-July.
State Representative Bob Vogel, R-Elko New Market, said this is welcome news.
“These storms created significant damage across our community so I am glad funds are on the way to help mitigate the problems,” said Rep. Vogel.
Rep. Vogel said more than $145,000 will be allocated to Le Sueur County, with the City of Waterville receiving $139,440 and the City of Elysian receiving $6,000.
The legislature created the Disaster Assistance Contingency Account in order to avoid calling special sessions to allocate any disaster funding.
