First Week of Session

Monday, January 14, 2019

Friends,

I am honored to be entrusted by the people of our community to represent their voice in St. Paul and I look forward to getting to work on their behalf. My top focus this biennium will be to serve as a watchdog for the taxpayers. As a numbers guy, I really look forward to that responsibility and my placement on Ways and Means will allow me to be at the forefront of that process. This biennium, I will serve on the Government Operations, Labor, State Government Finance Division, and Ways and Means.

New Laws in Effect

In addition to the beginning of a new calendar year, January 1 brought our state some new laws. On January 1, 2019, a handful of laws passed during the 2018 legislative session went into effect. These new laws address various issues, including reinsurance organizations, identity theft, PTSD for public safety personnel, waste collection systems, MA reimbursement rates, and step therapy.

If you’d like to see a full list of the new laws that took effect on January 1, please click on the following link: https://www.house.mn/hinfo/leginfo/0119nlrelease.pdf.
