Friends,
I hope you had a fun and safe Independence Day and are having a great summer. One thing Minnesotans know how to do best is take advantage of every precious day we have of summer -- whether it's a day at the beach, on a boat, hiking, or the hundreds of community festivals across the state. Next week is our own annual Maple Grove Days and I am looking forward to taking in the festivities with my family. Read about that and a few more things below. Have a great weekend!
Maple Grove Days
Next week marks the 2017 Maple Grove Days. It will begin Wednesday and have fun events for the whole family throughout the weekend. The full list of events with details is available here.
Look for me in the parade on Thursday and be sure to take in the expo at the Community Center on Saturday. I'll be at the expo all day on Saturday, come and say hi! Hope to see you there!
Don't forget to get your official Maple Grove Days button!
2017 Legislator of Distinction
I was honored to be named a Lawmaker of Distinction by the League of Minnesota Cities for my work during the 2017 Legislative Session. The League of Minnesota Cities recognizes legislators on an annual basis based on the following criteria:
I am honored to serve the people of Maple Grove and Osseo and will continue to work to make our cities a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
Reminder: Capitol Grand Opening Celebration
After a $310 million restoration and four years of work, the Minnesota State Capitol is open to the public. To commemorate this special occasion and to invite Minnesotans back to the People’s House, there will be a Grand Opening Celebration held on August 11, 12, and 13. The celebration will have something for everyone – fireworks, concerts, demonstrations by the artisans that worked on the restoration, behind the scenes tours, and much more. Most of the events are free, or offered at a very low cost. Please mark your calendars and plan to celebrate the People’s House this summer!
Congratulations!
Please continue to share your thoughts with me about our state government; bill ideas and concerns are welcomed! I am honored to serve you at the Capitol. My email address is Rep.Dennis.Smith@house.mn, phone number 651-296-5502, and by mail: 375 State Office Building, 100 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55155.
Have a great weekend!
