Expanded COVID testing available at the DECC

Friday, October 1, 2021

Dear Neighbors,

Largely as a result of the highly contagious Delta variant, Minnesota continues to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. With students back in school, community spread among young people is on the rise and testing remains an important tool in our strategy against the virus.

Today, the Minnesota Department of Health announced it will offer expanded testing at the DECC starting this coming Monday, October 4. The physical space itself will double from 5,000 to 10,000 square feet which will accommodate additional testing capacity and additional staff. Next week, testing will be available from Monday through Saturday, and beginning Tuesday, October 12, testing will be offered Tuesday through Saturday.

More information about community testing is available here from MDH. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are strongly encouraged. Click here to schedule an appointment. To access the site, enter the DECC parking lot through the east gate closest to the William A. Irvin Museum Ship. From there, enter the DECC facility through Door D, and proceed to Paulucci Hall.

The biggest key to preventing community spread of the virus, and ultimately overcoming the pandemic, remains getting vaccinated. The COVID-19 is safe, free, and effective. If you haven’t yet done so, please visit the Minnesota Vaccine Locator to find a location offering the shot.

Please continue to stay in touch with your viewpoints, ideas, or if I can ever be of assistance. Thank you for the honor to work as your public servant.

Sincerely,

Jen Schultz
State Representative
