Rep. Schultz Agrees with Dayton: Continue the Freeze

Thursday, April 9, 2015

ST. PAUL – Governor Mark Dayton delivered his State of the State address to a joint convention of the Minnesota Legislature this evening.  Governor Dayton emphasized the strong performance of Minnesota’s economy and reiterated his desire to see the $1.9 billion budget surplus used to for strong investments in Minnesota’s schools, from universal pre-kindergarten programs to continuing the tuition freeze at state colleges and universities.

“I was pleased to hear the Governor say that he wants the tuition freeze at both MnSCU and the University of Minnesota campuses to continue for another two years,” said Rep. Jennifer Schultz (DFL-Duluth). “Fully funding the requests to help the medical school and improve funding for our K-12 schools is also essential, and I think it would be a lost opportunity if we didn’t act this year on these education issues that impact all of our futures.”
