Dear Neighbors:
It's now been three weeks since the chaotic and deeply concerning end to the legislative session. One of the many bad outcomes of a rushed, nonpublic process is that mistakes get made, including a $101 million error that caused Governor Dayton to veto the omnibus tax bill. Negotiations on a possible special session to revisit the tax and bonding bills, among other things, are ongoing. I'll work to keep you posted.
In the meantime, though, it's important that we look to the long term. I'm hosting two events in the coming weeks that will address important long-term issues: climate change and early childhood.
Community Conversation on Climate Change – Thursday, June 23
I’m inviting constituents and the broader public to take part in a ‘community conversation’ focused on the impacts of and response to climate change in our neighborhood and our state. I will be joined by J. Drake Hamilton, the Science Policy Director for the renewable energy non-profit Fresh Energy and speaker on climate change impacts. This community conversation on climate change is part of a series of conversations, as I seek to engage the community more in policy development and advocacy.
