ST. PAUL – Representative Nels Pierson (R-Rochester) is solving an all-too-common problem at the DMV. Often, an applicant arrives at the DMV only to discover they are missing an important document. The document is readily available digitally, but the applicant is unable to present it as proper documentation. Thanks to Representative Pierson, hopefully, that law will change.
“The burdens we put on people just to secure an ID, which is required by law, is staggering,” he said. “Hopefully, we can ease the process just a little bit by allowing for required documentation to be presented digitally.”
As part of HF4056, the document would have to be able to be verified by the commissioner to ensure authenticity.
