ST. PAUL – State Rep. Nels Pierson, R-Rochester, announces Eyota is receiving a state grant for an infrastructure project designed to aid industrial park development and retain jobs in the city.
The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development has awarded Eyota $434,727 to assist with constructing a street and extending utilities to a new industrial park that will include a new Menards nail plant. The project will retain 20 jobs.
“Congratulations to the people of Eyota for their successful grant application,” Pierson said. “This is a great example of how public infrastructure projects can spur private investment to bolster the local economy. I look forward to seeing the growth benefits this grant will bring to Eyota.”
The funding was awarded from DEED’s Greater Minnesota Business Development Public Infrastructure Grant Program. The BDPI grant program supports communities outside the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Under the program, DEED awards 50 percent of eligible capital costs for the qualifying public infrastructure projects. These projects include wastewater collection and treatment, drinking water, storm sewers and more.
