Legislative Update (February 2, 2018)

Friday, February 2, 2018

Dear Neighbors,

New Farmer Tax Credit

Recently, I joined other legislators and young farmers for a celebration of the new tax credit for beginning farmers. Over 100 people and over 40 young farmers were in attendance for the event put on by the Central Minnesota Young Farmers Coalition.

I’m proud to have carried and passed this legislation into law; it signifies a bright path forward for many aspiring farmers. These are the future men and women who will work tirelessly to put food on our tables, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact the new farmer tax credit can have on our state in years to come.

Highway 14

Do you think Highway 14 is long overdue to become four lanes? Are there other state highways you think should be of higher priority? You still have time to submit your public comments to the Minnesota Department of Transportation on what you think should be our priorities for Corridors of Commerce dollars.

MNDOT is taking public comments until February 5th; feel free to let them know what you think here.

Good Luck

Many of our local sports teams are closing out their regular season and heading to playoffs. We’ll be keeping tabs on our teams as we hit the postseason. Good luck to all of our local student-athletes!
