ST. PAUL, MN—On Thursday, the Minnesota House of Representatives passed a bill, HF1186, authored by Rep. Nels Pierson, R-Rochester. The legislation modifies provisions related to mental health services and the qualifications for who is able to provide mental health services. The goal of the bill is to create easier access for mental health practitioners to provide care in day treatment centers.

The bill passed on a wide bipartisan vote of 119-11.

“Our day treatment facilities need more capable mental health professionals, and this bill is a step towards helping patients receive essential treatment,” said Pierson. “I’m proud to pass this legislation with bipartisan support, and hope to see it approved by the Senate, and signed into law by Governor Dayton.”

Now passed by the House, HF1186 heads to the Minnesota Senate.
