Dear Neighbors,
Bill Passage
Earlier today, the House passed my bill, HF1712, on a unanimous vote of 131-0. The bill allows dental hygienists to utilize their full scope of practice on a patient in collaboration with a dentist.
Our goal with this bill was to increase dental care access by allowing certified hygienists to perform their job duties even if they are at a different facility like a nursing home, Head Start program, or group home. This bill is about giving more access to quality dental care. It doesn’t expand the role of hygienists or dental assistants; it simply gives these professionals more options to do their job and help our neighbors.
I’m thankful for the bipartisan support for this legislation, and look forward to it moving through the process and hopefully becoming law.
Airport Groundbreaking
Last week, I attended the groundbreaking ceremony at the Rochester International Airport. I’ve been working on this issue since last term, and I’m encouraged to see steps toward the upgrading of the US Customs facilities. If you’re interested, the Rochester Post Bulletin has a fun photo gallery of the event.

We’re in the midst of finalizing our various budget proposals, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on anything we’re discussing in St. Paul. Please call, email, or visit me at the Capitol if you have a question or idea.
Have a great week!
