Legislative Update (July 22, 2016)

Friday, July 22, 2016

Dear Neighbors,

Farm Family of the Year

First, I’d like to congratulate the 2016 Minnesota Farm Family of the Year from Carver County, Paul, Susan, Daniel, and Clare Stuewe. The family operates their farm in our district near Cologne, and are very deserving of this honor. Congrats, Stuewe family!

Thank You

We’ve finished the second session of the biennium, and I wanted to thank you for your input over the last two years.

With your help, I was able to pass bills into law to help our area. Changing a sign ordinance to benefit our local wineries, strengthening your Second Amendment rights, allowing distilleries to sell their product on-site, helping truck companies save fuel, and eliminating costly overhead at MN.IT were all bill ideas that you helped me pass into law.

As legislative leaders discuss a possible special session, I’ll continue to advocate for what’s important to you: middle-class tax relief and road and bridge funding without raising taxes on your family.

Again, thank you for your input. Your correspondence helps me better represent the views of our area.

Please Contact Me

Because of a 60-day, post-session rule, I’ll be unable to send email updates after today. Although I can’t send out updates, you can still contact my office and I’ll be sure to get right back to you. If you or your family need assistance, please don’t hesitate to call or email.

Have a great summer,

Jim
