NASH STATEMENT ON SOUTHWEST LIGHTRAIL VOTE

Wednesday, July 8, 2015

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Jim Nash (R-Waconia), vice chair of the House Subcommittee on Metropolitan Council Accountability and Transparency, issued the following statement on the Metropolitan Council’s approval of the Southwest Light Rail Transit line:

"I'm disappointed that Metropolitan Council continues to move the Southwest Light Rail Transit line project forward. The costs are too high and the benefits are questionable at best,” said Nash. “Leaders on both sides of the aisle have expressed deep concerns with the rising and unknown costs related to his project. I had hoped that Metropolitan Council leadership would have seen what every day Minnesotans see: that this is an unneeded expense that, like other light rail projects, will cost more and deliver less than promised.”
