MILLER JOINS PRO-LIFE EFFORT IN WASHINGTON D.C.

Monday, November 29, 2021

St. Paul – On Wednesday, State Representative Tim Miller (R-Prinsburg) will join a rally in Washington D.C. to support pro-life efforts in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case being heard by the U.S. Supreme Court.

In 2018, Mississippi passed a law that banned abortions after the first 15 weeks of pregnancy. Following many lawsuits and injunctions against the Mississippi law, the U.S. Supreme Court will determine whether such restrictions on abortion are constitutional. The case, known as Dobbs v. Jackson, will be heard on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.

“Stopping the destruction of human life is the most important cause I have fought for in my time as a state legislator,” said Rep. Miller. “Since Roe v. Wade, states have been extremely limited in the restrictions that they can put on abortion. If the Supreme Court rules in favor of the Mississippi law, then that means states have clear authority to restrict abortion. This would be the first major blow to Roe v. Wade and the beginning of new pro-life movements in many states across our nation.”

In Minnesota, Rep. Miller is the chief author of a bill that would prohibit abortions after the heartbeat of an unborn child is detectable. This legislation is very similar to the bill that was passed in Mississippi. Additionally, Rep. Miller signed on to an amicus brief supporting the Mississippi law.

Rep. Miller concluded, “I am proud to join millions of pro-life Americans who want to end the evil practice of abortion. For those who cannot join us in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, I will live stream the rally from my Facebook page starting at 8:00am. If we are united, we have the power to make a world that protects the unborn.”
